UNESCO has launched a worldwide consultation on diamond open access (without publication fees)
On September 20th, UNESCO launched a survey to collect ideas and suggestions on how to set up a global collaborative mechanism for Diamond Open Access. The survey is part of the global consultation process on Diamond Open Access announced on July 10th 2024. The results will be shared in December of this year at the 2nd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access in Cape Town, South Africa and will form the basis for future discussions and possible regional consultations. This UNESCO initiative is in line with Second French Plan for Open Science which is in favour of open access with no publication fees whenever possible.
The survey is available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and targets all stakeholders including:
- Researchers / academics
- Librarians / information specialists
- Members of an academy or faculty
- Publishers and publishing professionals
- Political decision-makers
- Representatives of funding bodies /government officials
- Executive members of an academic society or professional association
- Technology or infrastructure providers
- Other
Responding to the survey takes an estimated 15 to 25 minutes.
