The SCOSS (Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services) coalition is launching its fifth call for funding for two new services:
- Research Data Alliance (RDA): an international organisation which functions thanks to contributions from its members. RDA develops infrastructure and community activities to reduce obstacles to sharing and exchanging data and to speed up global innovation by deliberately concentrating on data.
- Software Heritage (SWH): a not-for-profit organisation with a wide range of international academic and industrial. SWH is an archive of software source codes which research work is based on, thus facilitating the reproducibility, verifiability and re-use of the results. The archive guarantees the durability, availability and traceability of its data.
The Coalition aims to use pooled funding to contribute to the establishment and long-term stabilisation of an open science infrastructure. SCOSS has successfully helped ensure the long-term future of several open science infrastructures through donation pledge campaigns. To date, SCOSS has raised nearly €6 million in pledges for DOAJ, Sherpa Romeo, DOAB and OAPEN, PKP, OpenCitations, DSpace, Redalyc/AmeliCA , arXiv, ROR, LA Referencia and Dryad.
