2nd Open Science FAIR Conference: “Sustaining Open, Responsible and Innovative Research”

Conference

The OSFAIR is an international event for topics related to Open Science and is a joint initiative of several European projects providing a lively and interactive forum for implementers of Open Science. The 3-day event will critically evaluate the requirements for the transition to Open Science.

This years’ theme: Sustaining Open, Responsible and Innovative Research. Open Science as an emerging paradigm is increasingly being adopted into standard research practice. However the challenges it faces to be successfully implemented are numerous. Such barriers include the inertia of old research habits accompanied by lack of incentive from institutional and funder reward systems. A skills and competencies gap slows down doing open research, compounded by a lack of non-user friendly tools and services which are  only partially embedded in researchers workflows, with little connection to non-academic communities. The OS FAIR will explore how sustainable research support structures can be put in place to increasingly make research responsible, collaborative, innovative and, ultimately, open.

The conference will include keynotes by distinguished speakers, roundtable discussions, hands-on workshops and training sessions, as well as a poster and a demo session. It will bring together different stakeholder perspectives and will suggest roadmaps towards implementation on targeted aspects of Open Science, scholarly communication in national settings and FAIR implementation.

Some of the streams covered will be:  Infrastructures for Open Science – European Open Science Cloud – Responsible Research and Innovation – Training and Skills for Open Science – Policies and Assessment – Innovative Publishing – National networks

Target audience

Policy makers and funders, researchers, research Infrastructures and research communities, libraries, publishers and content providers, research administrators, citizen scientists, service providers and innovators.
