The French Ministry of Higher Education and Research was delighted to learn that the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and Software Heritage were the winning infrastructures in the 5th call for SCOSS funding.

Since the first National Plan for Open Science, France has provided financial support for these two projects, which play a major international role in the field of data management and sharing for the RDA and the long-term preservation of research codes and software for Software Heritage.

The French National Fund for Open Science (FNSO) has therefore granted RDA €400K for the years 2020 to 2023 and Software Heritage €450K for the same period.

The Open Science Committee has recently decided to continue supporting these two international infrastructures at constant levels in 2024 through the FNSO, by granting them respectively €100K (for RDA) and €150K (for Software Heritage). We encourage higher education and research players involved in open science to join this support dynamic by using the methods proposed by SCOSS, or via the funding campaign set up by the Couperin consortium.
